Bright Red Paper

Bright Red Paper are something of an anomaly in a city dominated by the "NorthWest" Indie sound. Their sound is more akin to post rock bands, Explosions in the Sky and Do Make Say Think than bands like Modest Mouse or Built to Spill. They play a more somber and dream-like style (more symphonic) which is probably closer to Explosions than anything else I can think of at the moment. Their sound is larger than it seems coming from only a four piece group. The four members are Daniel Enberg, guitar and vocals Douglas Jenkins, cello, Arcellus Sykes, bass, Eben Dickinson, drums and I will get my fiurst chance to see them this Saturday at Mississippi Studios here in Portland. Check them out on myspace and their own site. Dead Sea is highly recommended. CDs may be purchased through the band's site or though CDBaby.
